Mold Making Silicone Rubber for Professional Casting

• Addition-cure (polyaddition) silicone rubber uses a platinum catalyst. It cures quickly, exhibits minimal long-term shrinkage and offers excellent dimensional stability; some formulations are skin-safe and have an exceptionally long library life. This makes addition-cure systems ideal for highly detailed, technical molds where accuracy and longevity are critical.
• Condensation-cure (polycondensation) silicone rubber uses a tin catalyst and is regarded as the industry work-horse. It offers longer working times, high tear strength and cost-effectiveness, making it suitable for general-purpose mold making and production casting of resins.

Regardless of cure type, silicone rubber molds withstand extreme temperatures without melting, cracking or turning brittle. The material stays flexible even in cold conditions, enabling easy demolding and excellent detail capture. These qualities make our mold making silicone systems reliable for casting resins, wax, plaster and low-melt alloys, ensuring consistent performance across multiple uses.
